Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information EliaMU (the game servers, the PC client, the Android, iPhone/iPad and Mac apps, and the website eliamu.net) collects, why, and what you can do about it. EliaMU is a free, fan-run online game community. Questions: eliamuonline@gmail.com.

In short: we only keep what is needed to run your account and the game. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and the apps contain no advertising or tracking tools.

1. Information you give us

Account: your login name, password and e-mail address when you create an account on the website or in the game. The e-mail is used for account recovery and important notices only.
Game content: your characters and everything that belongs to them (items, levels, guild, friends list), and what you write in the game chat, private messages and the website.
Support: whatever you send us when you contact us (e-mail, Discord, support form).

2. Information collected automatically

Connection data: your IP address and the time of logins and connections, kept in the server logs and with your account (last login IP). We use it for security, to stop cheating and abuse, and to solve technical problems.
PC anti-cheat: the Windows game client sends a hardware identifier of your computer to our anti-cheat server so that banned cheaters cannot simply create a new account. It is used for nothing else.
Gameplay records: the game servers log in-game actions (for example trades, item changes and chat) so we can investigate cheating, scams and lost items.
Website: a session cookie keeps you logged in; a language cookie and your browser's local storage remember settings such as the language and the chosen server. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

3. Microphone (proximity voice chat)

Voice chat is optional. The apps use the microphone only while you turn on or hold the talk button. Your voice is sent live, through our server, to players standing near your character, and is not recorded or stored. You can turn voice chat off in the options and deny microphone access in your device settings; the game works without it.

4. Mobile and Mac apps

The apps download game files from eliamu.net and connect to our game servers. They contain no advertising, analytics or tracking libraries and do not track you across other apps or websites.
Error logs are written only on your device; they are sent to us only if you choose to send them.
Bluetooth is used only to connect a game controller, if you use one.

5. Payments

Optional donations are processed by PayPal. We receive the payment confirmation (amount, date, transaction ID and the PayPal e-mail) to add the coins to your account; we never see your card or bank details. PayPal's own privacy policy applies to the payment.

6. How we use information

to run your account and the game, and to keep your characters and items;
to protect players and the servers from cheating, hacking, scams and abuse, and to enforce the Rules;
to answer support requests and to fix problems.

7. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. Other players see what is public in the game (character names, levels, guild, rankings, chat). Information is shared only with the services that run EliaMU (our server hosting, and PayPal for donations), or when the law requires it.

8. How long we keep it

Account and game data are kept while your account exists. Server and security logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted, except when they are needed to handle a specific case of cheating or abuse.

9. Your choices and rights

You can change your password and e-mail in the account panel.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and all its characters: write to eliamuonline@gmail.com from the e-mail address of your account (or contact us on Discord). We delete it within 30 days.

10. Children

EliaMU is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We protect the servers and the database with access restrictions and keep them updated, but no online service can be completely secure. Use a password you do not use anywhere else.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new date.
